CYBUCY

“CYBUCY” came into existence during the summer of ‘23. What initially started out as a brief topography practice has turned into a larger, fleshed-out project. My main goal was to consciously identify what form-making elements contribute to the creation of a specific aesthetic for a font. Considering I haven’t received any formal type or graphic design training, much of the sketching was done by hand and then translated digitally via Rhino3D. After modeling, Adobe Illustrator was used to employ the needed line weighting and hatches. Despite this being a personal project, friends of mine from both the graphic design and architecture worlds provided me with useful critics that have helped push me to adapt the typeface.
HEIST NARRATIVE
winter ‘23
I produced a brief short story in the winter of ‘23. This activity served as a world-building exercise. A few sources of inspiration were generally used to help produce these deliverables, such as Warhammer 40K and Fallout.
Narrative:
Era 61XA: Political tensions rise as inter-terrestrial governments anticipate the colossal merger of galaxies NGC 421 and UGC 276. With the onset of changes, the authoritative bodies within each galaxie have initiated proxy wars with one another as a means of obtaining resources, territory, and power. All regimes seek the same end goal, “unification”; however, each has their own way of achieving this. Gradual colonization, species eradication, and religious crusades all serve as viable methods for mass control.
The G.A.M.B.I.T., a piece of valuable information technology, has the potential to provide knowledge and advice to whoever gets its hands on it, if they are even capable of using it. The covert exploration of an abandoned industrial planet revealed itself to be a fruitful endeavor. The spatial body in question, Indus C5-9, was never considered worthwhile due to its defunct condition; however, years of research and espionage work have led to it being a prime candidate as one of the G.A.M.B.I.T.’s resting places.
The scene is set. Two highly trained mercenaries hired by their respective governing bodies gamble on the risk-reward potentiality of the G.A.M.B.I.T.’s seizure, neither truly understanding how monumental their success or failure is to the outcome of the war.

“WHO AM I?” ILLUSTRATIONS
summer ‘23
Softwares:
Rhino 3D, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
As a kickoff to my internship in 2023 at McCarty Holsaple McCarty, the interns were asked to produce a collage as a means of introducing themselves to everyone in the firm. The image above is what I created. I chose to include some of the incredibly important people in my life. RX-78-2 was also included because I am a big fan of Gundams. I laid out a scene where my cat Tetris is about to stand off against RX-78-2 and everyone around her is cheering her on. This was the first “serious” project I had done at attempting to produce logotypes, so while they are rough, they served as a motivator for projects that would later occur.

The idea for these photos came about in the fall of ‘23 after I listened to “On The Palette” by Qypthone. I imagined a woman in mid-'60s dress waiting quietly, disgruntled and somber at the tardiness of her partner. Once the idea came to mind, I knew I had to physically reproduce it, yet I didn’t have the shoes or dress to accompany the vision. It wasn’t until January 2024 that all of the pieces fell into place when my best friend found this dress for me at Goodwill. I tried it on, and it fit perfectly. This was fate. After the discovery, I set up a makeshift studio in a room in my house and set the scene.
When it came to producing the look and makeup, I was inspired by two geographical settings in the mid- to late ‘60s: the power and confidence of Harlem, New York, and the patterns and color of London, England. The combination of the two styles culminated in a playful yet fierce character.
When it came to the photography, I chose to depict the conclusion of my initial thought. Rather than having the woman be upset by the whims of her partner's lateness, I depicted her as elegantly frustrated, simply waiting, turning over a hand in expression of disappointment, and leaving. While “On The Palette” did inspire this photoshoot, I chose “Conversazione” by Mina as I felt the lyrics and tonality of the piece were more fitting.
